Hull KR at Craven Park

Craven Park is Hull KR’s East Hull home, with Craven Streat giving the build-up a substantial food-and-music setting. The Colin Hutton North Stand and expanded East Stand provide different seated options around the ground.

Two Craven Parks and an East Hull home

The present Craven Park opened on 24 September 1989, when Hull KR beat Trafford Borough 48–8. Love Rugby League describes it as the club's ninth home. That opening belongs to the Preston Road ground: the earlier Craven Park had stood elsewhere in East Hull, so the shared name covers two different chapters in Rovers' history.

Hull KR's own history explains that maintaining the ageing former ground and meeting forthcoming safety standards helped drive the move. The final game there was in March 1989. The first season in the new stadium brought promotion back to Division One, giving the new home an immediate association with recovery after relegation.

The approach road is now Phil Lowe Way, replacing Poorhouse Lane. The club announced the change after its request to Hull City Council was approved. Lowe's name therefore appears in the stadium's postal address, Sewell Group Craven Park, Phil Lowe Way, Hull, HU9 5HE, as well as in accounts of the club's most successful earlier teams. ;.

Lowe scored 179 tries in 418 Hull KR appearances, with a spell at Manly Warringah bringing an Australian premiership in 1976. He was also part of Great Britain's 1972 World Cup-winning side. The road tribute recognises a second-row forward whose career connected East Hull with the international game and the Australian competition.

Craven Streat and the growing crowd

Craven Streat is the stadium's food-and-drink fan village, operating before and after matches with live music and other entertainment. It sits within the matchday experience rather than being a separate town-centre attraction. Hull KR also places its Fan Experience Zone in the Colin Hutton North Stand, giving shopping and pre-match activity two clearly named locations at the ground.

The old South Stand terrace was demolished before the 2025 season to create a larger Craven Streat and food-court area. The club also upgraded the Hull Trains stage to a more permanent structure and said the combined East Stand seating and fan-village changes tripled the toilet provision compared with the start of the previous season.

Hull KR recorded an average home attendance of 11,787 in 2026, its highest at the present Craven Park. In announcing that figure, the club confirmed that the additional South Stand and East Stand seating would remain for 2027. The increase in seats is therefore tied to a documented growth in crowds rather than simply a change in the ground's appearance.

A Hull Civic Society blue plaque was unveiled at the ground in January 2026 to commemorate the club's 2025 treble. The three trophies were the Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield and Super League title. The plaque places the achievement within the stadium itself, adding a fixed memorial to a season remembered through songs, shirts and matchday celebrations.

Bus 13, the 246 and Park & Stride

Hull Paragon Interchange is the rail and bus arrival point named by the club. Travel Hull identifies Stagecoach service 13 as a direct stadium route, running via Holderness Road, Southcoates and Preston Road before continuing towards Greatfield and Bilton Grange. This is an East Hull bus connection from the city centre, distinct from Hull FC's walking approach to the MKM. ;.

Service 246 is the special matchday route from Sutton Park and Bransholme. Its number commemorates Hull KR's 24–6 victory over Wigan in the 2025 Grand Final. The council explains that it replaced the 13C matchday service, with revised times and additional journeys designed around kick-off. The route number itself has become a small part of Rovers' recent history.

Travel Hull places service 14 about ten minutes' walk from the stadium. It gives the same walking allowance for Hedon Road services 75 and X7 towards Withernsea, and 75, X7, 78 and 79 towards Hedon. These are alternative bus-stop approaches; the published ten-minute figure refers to those nearby routes, not to walking from Paragon railway station.

Willerby's site on Greatfield Lane, off Marfleet Lane, provides the 2026 Park & Stride parking option. Hull KR gives the walk to the stadium as five minutes. Its postcode is HU9 5WA, while the ground itself uses HU9 5HE. The club's main car park is reserved for designated holders, partners and media. ;.

The council records 16 cycle racks providing 32 bicycle spaces at Craven Park. Its suggested route from the centre follows the interchange-to-ferry-terminal route before using Holderness Drain, the Withernsea branch-line route and the stadium approach. Hull KR's matchday guidance locates cycle racks in the West Stand car park. ;.

Our pick (opinion): We would plan the city-centre arrival around bus 13 from Hull Interchange, making the onward East Hull journey part of the ticket-day plan.

How away fans use the fan village

Away fans sit in North Stand blocks A and B. Hull KR's visiting guide directs them to turnstiles 1–4 for Craven Streat before the game, where they receive a wristband. They then leave by the same entrance and walk around to turnstiles 9–10 for the away section. The wristband links the fan-village visit with later stand admission.

North Stand visitors can return to Craven Streat after the match but cannot use it at half-time. Their own concourse beneath the seats has food and drink outlets, toilets, baby-changing and accessible toilet facilities. The whole stadium, including independent fan-village vendors, is cashless, so a visit to Craven Streat uses the same card-payment arrangement as the stands.

The 2026 drinks additions announced for the concourses included Madri, Staropramen, Carling Dark Fruit, Caffreys and Caffreys Black. Local vendors continued to provide street food and additional drinks in Craven Streat. The club also invested in screen software for interactive matchday activities, adding another specific part of the entertainment programme beyond the live stage.

Our opinion: Craven Streat is worth making part of an away visit because Hull KR explicitly opens it to visiting supporters. The unusual detail is the North Stand wristband circuit: enjoy the village first, then return around the outside to the away turnstiles. Building the visit around that sequence makes more sense here than expecting to drift between the North Stand and the village at half-time.

North seating, East terrace and new South seats

The Colin Hutton North Stand opened in 2013 and was named for the club president. It houses the Fan Experience Zone and the Legends Lounge as well as seated spectators. The lounge is described by the club as a sports-bar-style hospitality space where supporters can buy food and meet first-team players or former players. ;.

The East Stand seating extension announced for 2025 has red seats and a roof covering its rear two-thirds. It added 1,000 seats alongside the established East Stand standing section. The club's development announcement also included an improved disabled viewing area and a larger Craven Streat, bringing new seats, access improvements and the fan village into the same programme.

Hull KR announced 1,062 South Stand seats for every home Super League game in 2026. The new seating followed exceptional membership demand, with the club reporting more than 10,000 full-season members before the campaign. South Stand seating is therefore different from the old terrace removed to enlarge the fan village.

The club's entry arrangements distinguish East standing from East seating. East terrace ticket holders use turnstiles 13–20 and receive their Craven Streat wristband immediately after entry. South Stand and East seated spectators use the south-west Craven Streat entrance. The ticket's standing-or-seated description therefore determines the route into this side of the ground. ;.

Our advice (opinion): If choosing the new East Stand seats, we would favour the roofed rear portion when shelter matters; the roof covers the rear two-thirds.

Sensory spaces and the community hub

A sensory room in the Harry Poole Bar inside the One Point West Stand was introduced for 2026. The club says it has a view of the pitch and supports supporters affected by noise, bright lighting or crowded surroundings. Its precise location makes it a distinct facility within the West Stand rather than a general quiet-space promise.

The Foundation Community Hub is in the Wow Hydrate East Stand. The club lists PlayStation 5 rugby games, pool, arts and crafts among its activities, with television viewing available during matches for younger supporters needing a quieter setting. This is a separate space from the West Stand sensory room, with its own location and family-focused use.

Hull KR's gameday information says prams are not permitted inside and that the club cannot store them. It also provides an anonymous reporting text line, 07773 038712, linked to the stadium control room. The stated rules and reporting contact are practical details of this particular ground's crowd arrangements.

East Hull pubs and the surrounding streets

Visit Hull lists the Crown at 292 Marfleet Lane, Hull, HU9 5TF. The city council includes the building in its local heritage list, describing a neo-Georgian roadside pub built for the Hull Brewery Company and opened in 1955. It gives a stadium trip an identifiable East Hull pub stop with its own architectural history. ;.

Another named Marfleet Lane option is the Barham Hotel, at number 663, Hull, HU9 4TN. Visit Hull describes it as a traditional pub with a beer garden and high-definition screens. Its listing identifies a pub, despite the Hotel name, so it is useful as a drinks stop without treating the name as evidence of bookable accommodation.

Craven Park questions

What happened during the 2025 treble?

Hull KR's club history records a Challenge Cup final victory over Warrington, first place in the league and a 24–6 Grand Final win against Wigan in 2025. The Wembley success was its first major trophy in nearly 40 years. That sequence explains both the stadium's treble plaque and the commemorative number of the matchday bus.

Does the ground host more than rugby?

Coldplay's August 2025 concerts required a temporary relocation of Craven Streat for the Castleford home fixture. The club moved the fan village to the East Stand field while work began on the concert stage at the south end. The one-match arrangement illustrates how the stadium's music events use some of the same spaces as its rugby programme.

How has Craven Streat been used outside home fixtures?

Hull KR used the village for a Challenge Cup quarter-final screening, with spectators watching there while the stands remained closed. The published event arrangements identified the Beer Shack and south-west kiosk for drinks and the south side of the West Stand for toilets. The set-up shows how Craven Streat can operate as a gathering place even when the team is playing elsewhere.

The stadium also hosted the team's 2026 Wembley send-off through its south-west entrance. The club invited supporters for player photographs, autographs and interviews before the squad travelled to London; Craven Streat's merchandise stall and a breakfast kiosk were part of that event. It was another use of the ground as the meeting place between the team and the East Hull support.

Hull KR's 2027 membership announcement states that a two-year stadium-campus redevelopment is intended to begin in 2027. The additional East and South seating is to remain for that season, alongside the existing stands. This is an announced future programme; the retained seating is the specific published matchday arrangement, while the longer construction project is described by the club as the next stage in the ground's development.

Our opinion: take a moment at the blue plaque on the stadium entrance before heading into Craven Streat. Between that plaque, Phil Lowe Way and the commemorative 246 bus, Rovers' history is unusually visible in the everyday details of arriving for a match. Those small features give this East Hull visit its own character.
