A great match deserves a good trip
Choose your ground, find the right ticket and make the journey part of the enjoyment. Off to the Rugby brings together the things a visiting fan needs: the story of the stadium, the walk in, seating, access, pre-match places and a comfortable way home. Start with the venue guides or follow your team through the competitions.
Our view: a memorable rugby outing gives the match room to breathe. A clear meeting point, an appropriate seat and time for a meal are useful parts of the occasion. Make the plan fit your companions, whether that means a first family match, a club away trip or a weekend with friends. Keep the final journey realistic so you can enjoy the final whistle.
Allianz Stadium, Twickenham
England rugby, stadium history and the Whitton Road walk-in.
Scottish Gas Murrayfield
Scottish Gas Murrayfield is Scotland’s national rugby ground. Plan the Edinburgh approach, your seat and a comfortable return before enjoying the anthem.
Principality Stadium
Principality Stadium brings Wales internationals into central Cardiff. Choose your ticket gate, enjoy the city build-up and be seated for the anthem.
Aviva Stadium
Aviva Stadium is Ireland’s international rugby home at Lansdowne Road. Match your journey to your ticket colour, then make time for the Dublin 4 build-up.
Stade de France
Stade de France is in Saint-Denis, north of central Paris. Build the rugby day around your entrance and transport route, with Paris on either side.
Stadio Olimpico
Stadio Olimpico is Italy’s Six Nations ground in Rome’s Foro Italico. Choose your seat and north-city journey first, then enjoy the city around the rugby.
Wembley Stadium
Wembley is the home of rugby league’s Challenge Cup final. Plan the ticket, journey and walk-in together, then give the occasion room to breathe.
Two codes, plenty of occasions
For an international union weekend, start with the Six Nations and its city-break guides. Connect the ground to Edinburgh, Cardiff, Dublin, Paris or Rome. Choose the official fixture before committing to the trip.
For club union, explore Premiership trips, URC grounds and European weekends. The club’s fixture tells you which stadium to use; the venue guide helps you organise the visit around it. Our preference is to combine an appealing match with a place your party wants to spend time.
For league, browse Super League and the Challenge Cup. Visit the first-timer’s guide if you are new to the code. A club match and a major final offer different settings, so match the occasion to the experience you want rather than choosing only by the size of the ground.
Sort the useful details first
Begin with official tickets, then choose the seat and route that suit your party. Work through travel, packing and accessibility before adding extra activities. A visitor who needs a particular facility should have that arrangement settled alongside the ticket, not after the hotel has been booked.
If children are coming, family match days helps you set a manageable pace. Leave room for food, breaks and questions. Our view is that a successful first visit leaves the child keen on another, even when the plan is simpler than the adults originally imagined. The outing belongs to everybody in the party.
For a longer stay, compare the stadium route with the rest of the weekend through our accommodation guide. Read the actual room and cancellation terms before paying. Then enjoy the build-up: the approach to the ground, team colours around you and that first view of the pitch. A little preparation is there to make those moments easier to enjoy.
