The next Super League Grand Final

The next Super League Grand Final takes place at Old Trafford on Saturday 2 October 2027. Super League confirmed the date on 5 October 2026, giving supporters a firm Saturday around which to plan their Manchester visit.

The 2027 match continues the partnership between Rugby League Commercial and Manchester United announced in October 2024. That agreement secured Old Trafford through the competition's thirtieth Grand Final. The relationship reaches back to the first final in 1998, when Wigan beat Leeds and Jason Robinson supplied the try remembered in the league's own account of that night.

For the stadium itself, open our Old Trafford guide, with the seating plan, named stands and transport approaches. Our Super League guide connects the final with trips to the clubs' home grounds. If you are making Manchester part of a longer rugby journey, the venue directory lets you choose the next ground by country and code.

How Grand Final tickets are sold

The first sales window belongs to people who bought tickets for the 2026 final. Super League's announcement said those customers would receive an email link from noon on 5 October 2026; the priority window closes at 23:59 on Sunday 18 October 2026. General sales are due before the new season, with the precise opening date still to be announced.

Other supporters can use the preregistration form on Super League's Grand Final ticket page. This is the official place to express interest in the 2027 event and follow the next sales announcement. The wider tickets hub also signposts group bookings and hospitality, useful routes for readers organising several seats or considering a different matchday package.

Our advice (opinion): For a neutral Old Trafford weekend, start with the central Super League ticket page. For a trip that depends on your own club reaching the final, decide whether you would still enjoy Manchester if another side qualifies before committing to a non-refundable stay. Those are two quite different weekends, even when the stadium and date are identical. We would also make the ticket decision before choosing an elaborate Sunday itinerary: a group coming mainly for its club may want a different weekend from friends who are happy to watch either finalist. Agreeing that preference makes the Manchester hotel search much easier to narrow down.

Choosing a view at Old Trafford

Old Trafford's stadium map names the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand on the north side, the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand on the opposite long side, the East Stand and the Stretford End to the west. The north-east and north-west quadrants occupy the corners of the bowl. These names provide a useful way to understand the position offered by a ticket before concentrating on its block and row.

Our pick (opinion): We would compare the two long-side stands first for a first rugby league final. Watching across the pitch suits following defensive lines, the movement of the ball and the space around a kick. If you enjoy seeing a team attack towards you, an end-on seat may be the more appealing choice; use our Old Trafford seating plan to orient yourself before choosing.

There is also a particular player-of-the-match tradition to watch for. The Rob Burrow Award replaced the Harry Sunderland Trophy at the 2024 final. Burrow had been the outstanding performer in both 2007 and 2011, receiving every one of the 37 recorded media votes after Leeds beat St Helens 32–16 in 2011. The award is decided by attending members of the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters Association.

Getting to the final and parking

Manchester United's directions identify Old Trafford tram stop and the Trafford Park line's Wharfside and Imperial War Museum stops as approaches to the football stadium. Use the Bee Network journey planner for the connection from your arrival station or hotel. The full ground guide includes the operator's walking routes and distinguishes the football ground from nearby Emirates Old Trafford, the cricket venue.

For drivers, Manchester United gives M16 0RA as its matchday postcode. Its standing instructions direct vehicles with E1 or E2 permits along Wharfside Way; approaching those car parks from Chester Road leads into a different traffic route. The club also warns that vehicles may be held in E1 and E2 after a match on police instructions. Use the final's own parking offer when released to establish which permit applies to your visit.

There are cycle racks at N2 beside the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, E2 beside the East Stand and W2 beside the West Stand. The club asks cyclists to bring their own locks. These named locations are useful when matching a cycle arrival to the side of the stadium printed on your ticket.

Hotels for a Manchester rugby weekend

Hotel Football is at 99 Sir Matt Busby Way, Manchester, M16 0SZ. Its accommodation includes stadium-view rooms and football-themed rooms with memorabilia and artwork. The hotel's room descriptions distinguish king rooms, stadium-view rooms and family arrangements, so choose the room category as carefully as the property if the view or sleeping layout matters to your group.

The Quays provide another area to compare. Visit Manchester's district guide lists AC Hotel Manchester Salford Quays and Premier Inn Manchester (Old Trafford), alongside waterfront attractions and restaurants. Its accommodation directory also covers city-centre hotels. For hotel searches, keep the football stadium's address beside your results: a property describing itself as Old Trafford accommodation may be associated with the cricket ground instead.

Our advice (opinion): We would shortlist Sir Matt Busby Way for a stay centred on the stadium, the Quays for a waterfront weekend, and central Manchester when the rest of the trip matters as much as the final. Compare the whole stay, including the journey after the match, rather than choosing a room solely because its listing contains “Old Trafford”.

Turn the final into a stadium weekend

Manchester United's museum and tour offer a separate look inside Old Trafford. The advertised route includes the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand seating area, a dressing room, the players' tunnel, pitchside dugouts and the media room. The guided element takes about seventy minutes; United suggests approximately an hour for the museum's three floors.

The museum gives the building more context than a matchday concourse can. Its displays include the trophy and Munich rooms, the club's Newton Heath beginnings, kit history, managers, and the history of the stadium and floodlights. Tour visitors collect their tickets at Sir Alex Ferguson Stand reception. The standard route has 177 steps, with a flat-route alternative available through the museum team; access enquiries should be made at least 48 hours ahead.

For a named food stop near the stadium, the Bishop Blaize is at 708 Chester Road, Stretford, M32 0SF. Wetherspoon publishes its own menu and visitor information for the pub. Keep that address separate from the stadium postcode when making an arrangement with friends: Chester Road and Sir Matt Busby Way describe different parts of the approach, and a named doorway is more useful than an instruction to meet somewhere outside Old Trafford.

Book a tour against the museum's live availability for the day you intend to visit. United explains that stadium activity and rearranged fixtures can affect tours. A museum booking and a Grand Final ticket are separate parts of the weekend, so give each its own place in your itinerary.
