Scotstoun Stadium
Scotstoun places Glasgow Warriors inside a ground with athletics roots and a busy East Stand Fan Zone. Its club-rugby identity comes with a clear venue exception: the home Edinburgh derby moves to Hampden.

Scotstoun’s showground and rugby history
Scotstoun’s sporting story grew out of an agricultural showground. The Glasgow Agricultural Society developed the land for shows, with sport taking place by 1907. A running track and grandstand were present by 1915, the original grandstand standing on the north side. That earlier history explains the athletics identity that remains visible around the rugby pitch.
A further programme of development began in 1993, turning Scotstoun into a specialist training and competition venue. The Glasgow Story connects the leisure complex with Scotland’s first indoor tennis centre, all-weather athletics facilities and a rugby centre of excellence.
Glasgow Warriors began training at Scotstoun in 2009 and made it their regular match venue in 2012. The stadium consequently serves as both the team’s working base and its home ground. The Glasgow 2026 venue description records both dates, distinguishing the arrival of day-to-day training from the later move of home matches.
The first PRO12 match at Scotstoun ended in an 18–13 defeat by Scarlets on 7 September 2012. The Welsh side therefore supplied the opposition for the start of Glasgow’s regular league life here. The move established the setting for the knockout matches and championship campaigns that followed over the next decade.
Scotstoun’s campus hosted squash and table tennis at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and synchronised swimming during the 2018 European Championships. For Glasgow 2026, the stadium was designated for athletics and para athletics. Its facilities include a 400-metre outdoor track and a 100-metre indoor sprint straight within the Main Stand.
Preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games moved Glasgow’s later home play-off fixtures to Scottish Gas Murrayfield. Scottish Rugby confirmed the June semi-final venue after Warriors progressed. This was a temporary accommodation for the Games preparations at Scotstoun, distinct from the club’s regular home programme and from the separate Edinburgh derby arrangement.

Glasgow’s championships and home identity
The Warriors won their first major title in 2015, beating Munster 31–13 in Belfast. DTH van der Merwe, Finn Russell and Stuart Hogg were among the final’s try scorers, with Duncan Weir adding a late penalty. The trophy belonged to the Scotstoun-based side, although the final was played at Kingspan Stadium rather than in Glasgow.
Scotstoun hosted a seven-try Glasgow performance against Ulster in the 2019 PRO14 semi-final. Tommy Seymour scored twice in the 50–20 victory, which took Dave Rennie’s team into a third final in five seasons. The reward was a final at Celtic Park, placing the decisive home performance here within a larger Glasgow rugby occasion.
A second league championship followed in 2024 when Glasgow defeated the Bulls 21–16 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. Franco Smith coached that title-winning team. The two championships were won in different countries, while Scotstoun remained the home where supporters followed the regular league programme and the squad prepared for those campaigns.
The club’s 2019 badge redesign drew on shipyard signs from the area surrounding Scotstoun and on Glasgow transport lettering. That connection gives the branding a specific local reference: the visual identity was designed around Glasgow’s industrial and civic environment as well as the earlier Glasgow District Rugby Union badge.
Glasgow’s Clubhouse programme brings players from the men’s and women’s teams into pre-match conversations hosted by Gavin Pearson. Trophy displays have included the Calcutta Cup, Doddie Weir Cup, 1872 Cup and Scottish–Italian Shield. After matches, players meet supporters by the barriers in front of the Main Stand. The club’s autograph book also raises money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Scotstounhill, Northland Drive and Danes Drive
Scotstounhill station is the principal rail approach. Glasgow Warriors give an eight-minute walk to the North-West entrance on Northland Drive. The station serves the Argyle and North Clyde lines, with connections through Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen Street and Partick. Partick also links the railway with the Subway and bus network.
The club’s stadium address is 112 Danes Drive, Glasgow, G14 9HD. Taxis use the designated drop-off at the Danes Drive Main Entrance. Published First Glasgow services serving the stadium area include the 1 variants, 2, 3, 6 and X4. There is no public matchday parking at the stadium.
Scotstoun sits between residential streets and sports land. The council’s planning description places Danes Drive to the south and Northland Drive to the west, with the Victoria Park Nature Trail along the east. The nature trail follows a former railway route, helping explain the green corridor beside a stadium embedded in a residential neighbourhood.

The Fan Zone and matchday facilities
The current food village names Greek Gyro, Hector & Harriet, Salt & Chilli Chicken, The Pizza Pitch and Loaded Bites. Additions for 2026–27 include A Latte Love, SMSH BRGR and Loop & Scoop, while The Chippy appears as a rotating guest trader.
The Fan Zone is behind the East Stand. Its development added a 40-foot container bar, The Famous Grouse Bothy and the Scottish Rugby Store on a hard-standing area. The club described enlarging the space from 12 to 44 metres deep while retaining a width of 66 metres, providing a larger gathering area on that side of the ground.
Scotstoun takes card and contactless payments. Match tickets and season passes are delivered through the Scottish Rugby Ticketing App. The North-West gate is for people who already have a valid ticket; ticket sales and collections are handled elsewhere. That makes the Northland Drive approach particularly convenient after a Scotstounhill arrival with the ticket already available.
The club replaced Scotstoun’s floodlighting before the 2025–26 season and reported more than twice the previous illumination levels. It also replaced chemical toilets with plumbed flushing cabins in the north-west and south-east corners. These improvements affected practical facilities around the stadium as well as visibility on the playing field.
Extra beer fonts were installed in the Fan Zone and North Stand bars as part of the September 2025 works. The club identified service capacity as the reason for that change. The upgrade programme therefore covered three separate parts of the visit: watching the match, using the toilets and buying drinks.
Our pick (opinion): We would make a meal of the food village, with Greek Gyro, Salt & Chilli Chicken and Loop & Scoop offering a more varied stop than a single kiosk.

Main Stand, end stands and hospitality
Glasgow City Council’s 2017 seating plan combined permanent north and south stands with temporary stands at the east, west and north-west. That plan totalled 7,351 seats. The temporary end stands were positioned inside the athletics-track perimeter, showing how rugby seating was fitted into a venue that also had to serve track-and-field sport.
The East, West and Community stands were covered by a long-term agreement with GL Events announced in the club’s supporter-improvements update. Glasgow described higher roofs, increased legroom and incorporated speakers. Those changes were aimed at the experience in the added stands, including the sound of announcements as well as the amount of personal space.
The Bothy hospitality package includes a Category One Main Stand match ticket and a three-course meal. The advertised package also includes a player question-and-answer session, drinks provision and half-time pies.
The Harper Macleod Club Deck is in Scotstoun’s Main Stand. Its published package puts match seats directly in front of the suite and includes a two-course meal, a player or coach welcome and a post-match question-and-answer session.
Our opinion: We would choose the Main Stand for a visit centred on a fixed touchline seat and the most explicitly documented lift access. The East end is more appealing if the Fan Zone is central to the day. Scotstoun’s athletics layout makes the relationship between stand, entrance and refreshment area more important than simply choosing the cheapest category on the ticket plan.

Scotstoun’s accessible routes
Wheelchair users in the Main Stand are directed towards the Allied Mobility drop-off on the left after entering the campus from Danes Drive. There is level access from road to pavement beside the Ticket Office. Two lifts serve the Main Stand, connecting seating and the floors containing food, drink and toilet facilities.
For North Stand wheelchair seats, the club describes an approach through the south-east entrance, behind the West Stand and left in front of the big screen. Toilets and kiosks are behind that screen. The directions are specific to the North Stand route and differ from the Main Stand’s lift-based arrangements.
Glasgow’s Scotstoun Squad helpers wear green jackets marked Here to Help. The club also offers Quiet Events for people who find the crowds, lights or noise of matches difficult, including opportunities to become familiar with entrances and facilities before attending a game. These sessions are separate from a conventional public stadium-tour programme.
Accessible parking is allocated through a match-by-match ballot because on-site spaces are severely limited. The club says entries close three days before the match and successful applicants receive a parking pass through the Scottish Rugby Ticketing App. The ordinary leisure-centre parking area is reserved for Glasgow Club Scotstoun users, rather than Warriors spectators.

Jordanhill food and the sports campus
The Three Craws is at 501 Crow Road, Jordanhill, Glasgow, G11 7DN. Ember Inns lists a beer garden, children’s menu and vegetarian and vegan choices. It provides a named pub stop in the wider Scotstoun and Jordanhill area, with its own food service beyond the stadium’s separate street-food stalls.
The Three Craws’ published set-menu examples include chorizo macaroni cheese, a katsu chicken rice bowl and fish and chips. Its drinks offer includes cask ales, wine, beer and soft drinks. These are the pub’s stated choices, giving a concrete idea of the kind of meal available on Crow Road.
The wider Scotstoun Sports Campus contains Glasgow Club Scotstoun, the National Badminton Academy and Scotstoun Squash Centre. Glasgow Life also hires stadium meeting and events space, including the Club Deck. The rugby ground therefore shares its surroundings with regular community sport and indoor facilities rather than operating only when Warriors have a fixture.
Our opinion: For a Glasgow weekend, we would use the Scotstounhill rail connection as the starting point for choosing a base. A city-centre stay can work neatly with the Central or Queen Street connections; a West End visit can be organised around Partick. The Three Craws is a separate Jordanhill meal option, while the East Stand food village suits a day spent mostly inside the ground.

Scotstoun questions
The 2026–27 Glasgow season ticket separates the home Edinburgh derby at Hampden Park from the Scotstoun programme. The club lists eight regular URC matches and two Champions Cup pool matches at Scotstoun, with the Edinburgh match at Hampden. A Glasgow home ticket therefore needs its stadium name read carefully when the opponent is Edinburgh.
The club’s supporter-improvements programme introduced sensory packs containing self-soothing toys and ear defenders, British Sign Language versions of team announcements and matchday information, and pram storage. These additions sit alongside the physical wheelchair routes, extending Scotstoun’s support beyond step-free entry alone and including supporters with sensory needs or very young children. Glasgow also restored Bovril sales at the Main and North Stand kiosks, with soup available in the North Stand and speciality hot drinks elsewhere around Scotstoun.
The Scottish Rugby Store forms part of the East Stand Fan Zone development, alongside independent Scottish food and drink suppliers. Glasgow’s published plan grouped shopping, refreshments and pre-match gathering in that area.
Explore the venue directory, Murrayfield and Edinburgh Rugby.
Our advice (opinion): For the Edinburgh derby, build the journey around Hampden from the outset; the usual Scotstounhill rail approach belongs to a different ground.
